Labor
I support:
- Mandatory union card check neutrality for all major DC employers
- Raising the minimum wage to $20 per hour
- Instituting a living wage with mandatory pay rises in line with inflation
- Introducing in-work benefits to supplement low-paid workers’ wages
- Six months of paid parental leave (both maternal and paternal)
- Five weeks paid vacation and paid sick leave for all city employees
- Living wage tied to cost of living and inflation
- Implementing a yearly pay raise in line with inflation for all DC public employees
- Investment in occupational health and safety
If elected, I would propose legislation to implement statutory union card check neutrality for all DC employers so that everyone who wants to join or form a union can do so. I also support strengthening workforce regulations that ensure safety on the job and provide protections against unfair dismissal and on-the-job discrimination and harassment. To get DC up to speed with most western European countries, I also pledge to fight for a full six months of paid parental leave (both maternal and paternal), five weeks paid vacation and paid sick leave for all city employees. And of course, I support a living wage tied to cost of living and inflation as well as a yearly pay raise in line with inflation for DC public employees.
